Visa

A Visa letter must be obtained before departing for Bhutan. This has to be arranged through a tour operator. To obtain visa, a copy of the passport and tour invoice has to be remitted to Bhutan.

The government in Thimphu issues the visa letter. Other than Indian, Bangladeshis nationals, all visitors to Bhutan require a visa; visas are only issued to tourists booked with a local licensed tour operator, directly or through a foreign travel agent.

Applications for tourist visas are submitted by the tour operator. Visa clearance from Thimphu must be obtained before coming to Bhutan. Visa clearance takes at least 10 days to process. Air tickets to Bhutan cannot be purchased without visa clearance. At your point of entry the visa will be stamped in your passport

You have to produce a copy of the visa letter to board Druk Air. The Actual visa is stamped on arrival in Bhutan.

NOTE: Visas cannot be obtained at Bhutanese embassies.
Visa has to be obtained prior to arrival but will be processed by the operators through whom the tourists are coming to Bhutan.
